Introducing Safety Officers
I will pilot “tri-service safety officers” in Leicestershire towns and villages. These have been successfully used since 2014 by Cornwall Police.
They are locally based blue light representatives, who work with fire services and as paramedics. I will follow the evidence in the pilot: if it works, I will expand it.
Mental Health
I will work hard to make sure that police are trained in recognising mental health situations.
I will extend joint work between police, NHS and social services, to keep people safe.
Investing in Young People
Providing young people with safe and creative places to be cuts crime.
I look up to the work done for decades by Highfield Adventure playground and will look to support them and other threatened youth projects when I am elected.
Supporting Families
Addressing domestic violence will be a priority.
Policing must centre around harm reduction, community, and accountability so as to increase safety for all families.
I want to make sure that no woman, man, family or child gets left behind when it comes to safety in the home.
